Design Statement
For this week, I've been working primarily from the church. After considering, I still decided to extend my design around the grid system. So in the end, I made a prototype that developed a civilization around a church. I scrutinized some interesting mechanics and conditions for hexagons. In the end, I imitated Dorfromantik. the main mechanic of the game is that plates can only be placed in places where each neighboring side fulfills a condition, such as buildings cannot border forests, roads must connect roads, rivers must connect rivers, etc. This mechanic can simply enable the player to create a natural civilization without realizing it.
I wanted to try making multi-grid plates to develop larger civilizations. But due to various limitations, this idea didn't happening end up. The game could have been much more interesting if multiple grids of boards existed, like Tetris.
Another major learning I had was that I spent too much time fixing a bug that didn't exist. after a few hours of working on it, I suddenly realized that the bug didn't exist in the previous version. So I simply rolled back to the previous version and fixed the problem. This made me realize the importance of version control even more.
